installation, 10 banners

The triangular structure fastened to the façade of the building is based on the neo-Babylonian cuneiform symbol for "skirt/ temple façade/ house". The red banners cover the graffiti and refer back to the basic architecture. Jugert slips a suspender–belt on to the house bearing the name of Mary. This redefinition of the structure allows the artist to transform an old ideogram into a frivolous saint. The use of a word in the language defines its meaning, making it come alive.
